Anheuser-Busch was established in the 1850s, and the deal was sealed with a wedding. Adolphus Busch, a German immigrant to St. Louis, met Eberhard Anheuser, who had recently bought a not so successful brewery. Busch married Anheuser's daughter Lilly, and with his father-in-law, partnered to turn the brewery into a profitable venture. The company created a lager in 1876 using methods that took a lot of time and used fine ingredients. They called it Budweiser.
